Ruby on Rails Developer(s) [Jan 12]

We have an immediate need for Ruby on Rails developers in Washington, DC and New York, NY for a brand-name media giant with 146 bureaus in 72 countries. Headquartered in New York, the company employs more than 13,000 people in 185 locations around the world. They are adding RoR developers of all levels to an already seasoned development team.

Qualifications:

1. Write code in Ruby, HTML/CSS, and Javascript
2. Design, implement, and maintain Ruby on Rails based components
3. Rapidly solve problems and bugs
4. BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
5. Experience with Ruby on Rails & MySQL in a consumer facing web environment
6. Experience with object oriented analysis/design
7. Experience in XHTML, Javascript, CSS and general Web 2.0 techniques
8. Familiarity with relational databases, preferably MYSQL and Oracle
9. Understanding of web services technologies such as SOAP, HTTP, WSDL, XSD, and REST
10. Understanding of code manipulation and optimization issues
11. Knowledge of design patterns, refactoring and unit testing
12. Familiarity with the MVC model
13. Experience working in Agile environments using Scrum, Pair Programming, or Extreme Programming
14. A proven ability to learn and adapt to new, complex development environments
15. Superb analytical skills, self directed, excellent communication skills with engineers and non-engineers, strong team ethic, and pays close attention to details
16. Work as part of an Agile development team incorporating feedback from product managers, product support and other development team members
17. Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operation
